Okinawa World and the Gyokusendo Cave

Last weekend we went to Okinawa World which is a big park with traditional Okinawa culture and crafts. They also have the largest cave in Okinawa. Its about 5 km and you can walk the 1st km. The kids had fun-especially watching the Eisa Drummers and the Shisha Dog performance.
At the entrance of the cave.
Getting our picture with the Eisa Drummers.

Luke just being Luke.

Logan being cute!

Amazed by the Eisa Drummers!

More Pics

Inside the cave-now if I could read Japanese, I would tell you what the sign says. Oh wait...guess I should be able to speak it first-that may help!
This is during the performance of the Eisa Drummers. During the show the Shisha dog comes to life. The Shisha dogs are all over Okinawa. They are suppose to keep evil spirits away and the good spirits in.

A pint sized Eisa Drummer-isn't he cute!!!

Eisa Drummers.

Habu Sake. And yes it is a real-dead-snake in the jar. This is the most feared snake on the island, and the deadliest. We've tried regular sake-but no dead snakes please. The Japanese consider Sake to be "rice wine"-I don't think so! Think more along the lines of Moonshine.

Finally...I finished something!

So, my creativity has been lacking (as much as my free time). But I've been feeling pressured to get something accomplished-since all my friends seem to be getting things created. Peer Pressure! Well I do feel a little better-besides I may get lost under the piles of pictures that need to be scrapbooked!

Super Bowl...Monday Morning???

So I have to admit, I was really skeptical about watching the game on a Monday morning. I mean breakfast and coffee instead of hot wings and beer-consider it a sin! But a Steeler win and having the day off made it all the better. Since the kids were at school-we had the day to ourselves-oh what a concept. So we decided to go to Forest Adventure Park-a zip line park. It was so much fun!
John, me, and Mike at the beginning. They show you how to hook yourself in and go then you take a test on a mini zipline while they watch you do every step. Then your off on your own.
I was a little nervous, but I didn't chicken out.

The view down! And the ain't the U.S.-no nets! (and no staff watching or hooking you up)

The view of the Sea was out of this world!

Cherry Blossom Festival

So we signed up for a tour to go to the Nago Cherry Blossom Festival in Nago and at the Nago Castle ruins. They somehow forgot to mention there were 700 stairs to climb to get to the top where most of the Cherry Blossoms were suppose to be.
But I guess its a "cold" winter-by Okinawan standards-and there weren't as many blossoms as we thought.

But they were still beautiful.

Japanese fair food. You just have to point and guess at what you're ordering. Luckily, the kids eat most of it. John is another story.

The Parade.

Dusk at the festival
I think this pic turned out so good

Logan, who wasn't as grumpy as Hailey...

and I happened to catch her one smile of the day!

Luke, on the other hand just chilled-well two out of three wasn't bad.
